Install the Grid Infrastructure
FTP the grid software to RAC1 /u01/sw/ & then unzip the software & change the permissions to “oracle” user
[oracle@rac1 grid]$cd /u01/sw/grid/
[oracle@rac1 grid]$ ./runInstaller
Select “install and Configure Grid Infrastructure for a cluster” and Click Next
Click “Typical Installation” and Click Next
Click the “SSH Connectivity…” button and enter the password for the “oracle” user.
Click the “Setup” button to do configure SSH connectivity, and the “Test” button to test it once it is complete
Click the “Identify network interfaces…” button and check the public and private networks are specified correctly.
Once you are happy with them, click the “OK” button and the “Next” button on the previous screen.
Add rac2-vip.oracle.com to rac-scan and click Next
Fill the details as per above shown
Set the redundancy to “External”, select all 5 disks and click the “Next” button.
select Change Directory Path
and give this path as we created shared disks at this path only /dev/oracleasm/disks
and select Candidates disks & select all DISKS
Specify the path for Inventory Directory & next
If you are happy with the summary information, click the “Finish” button.
If you got any error about NTP(Network Time Protocal)
Follow the steps: on both rac1 and rac2 nodes
# service ntpd stop
Shutting down ntpd: [ OK ]
# chkconfig ntpd off
# mv /etc/ntp.conf /etc/ntp.conf.org
# rm /var/run/ntpd.pid
If you are using NTP, you must add the “-x” option into the following line in the “/etc/sysconfig/ntpd” file.
OPTIONS=”-x -u ntp:ntp -p /var/run/ntpd.pid”Then restart NTP.
# service ntpd restart
Starting ntpd: [ OK ]
mv /etc/ntp.conf.org /etc/ntp.conf
& Check Again it will be run successfully
Wait while the setup takes place.
run scripts as root user
The output from the “orainstRoot.sh” file should look something like that listed below.
Output of orainstRoot.sh :
Output of root.sh:RAC1 & RAC2
If you get any errors with +ASM then
perl /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl -deconfig -force
and run root.sh again
Once the scripts have completed, return to the “Execute Configuration Scripts” screen on RAC1 and click the “OK” button.
Wait for the configuration assistants to complete.
The Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster and Oracle Cluster Verification Utility failed in this installation.
I choose Skip to continue and then click the “Close” button to exit the installer.

Its a bug its not our fault.We can Ignore its due to DNS (If we are not using DNS it will give this error).
shutdown and it is a good idea to make a backup before proceeding to the Database Installation.
after starting 2 nodes again use
[root@rac1 ~]#service ntpd restart
[root@rac2 ~]#service ntpd restart
And start Database Installation.
